Pet Food Drive
There are plenty of toy drives for children over the holidays, but the Woodlands Dog Park Club will be hosting a pet food drive this weekend. It is no surprise that dogs have a positive effect on their owners both physically and mentally, but pets have an even greater importance in the lives of seniors who often lead isolated lives.
So it should come as no surprise that some seniors will actually give what little food they have to their dogs before they feed themselves. According to the Meals-On-Wheels Association of America, Texas ranked fourth in the number of seniors who were under-nourished. That’s where the pet food drive comes in.
The pet food drive is an effort to support The Friendship Center which is an agency that administers the Meals-On-Wheels program in Montgomery County, Texas. So if you want to help seniors and their pets, please join the Woodlands Dog Park Club in supporting the pet food drive on Saturday, December 19, 2009.
